With various governments poised to relaunch the Crypto Wars of the early 1990s, with social media conglomerates harnessing our data without our explicit consent and with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube employing algorithms without transparency, thereby shaping and manipulating our perceptions of reality, digital technology is a far cry from the ideals associated with the internet during the early and mid-1990s. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, a nonprofit organisation fighting for and defending our rights to privacy and free speech, has launched a new podcast meant to address the shortcomings of high tech policies in six specific areas. Executive Director Cindy Cohn and Director of Strategy Danny O’Brien invite all of us to join the debate, stand up for our rights and imagine a better tomorrow.
